What connects people? As I am looking for the answer, I got fascinated by the concept of loneliness for a long time. After talking to hundreds of people and spending years in thinking and research, I can finally put my thoughts into words.
Loneliness is a common human condition—whether experienced as physical isolation or an intellectual solitude, even for a fleeting second. It is the signature of a void, an innate signal that individuals desire to connect deeply to another soul, or simply hearing a voice from a collective consciousness capable of holding light streams made of endless curiosities and willingnesses to be present.
The presence of loneliness often becomes an inspiration for deep thinking, personal reflection, and a vital source for creation. So it is quite safe to say that loneliness is not a condition that needs to be eliminated entirely from our lives. In fact, it symbolizes one of the most common needs of being human—a need to be recognized.
As I am trying to further decode the concept of understand loneliness, I also realized loneliness changes from people, changes through time, shifts weights under the influence from age, environment, and both external events and internal thoughts.
Complexities also indicates layered possibilities, and I deeply believe the way people feel about loneliness often reflects their world views, which could be a key for building connections in this ever changing world.
